Ballycastle Golf Club

Ballycastle Golf Club occupies one of the most scenically dramatic settings of any golf course in Ireland. The course hugs the North Antrim coastline east of the Causeway Coast, with holes divided between classic links terrain beside the sea and undulating parkland on the hillside above. The transition between these two very different environments gives Ballycastle a variety and character that sets it apart from purely links or purely parkland courses.

Founded in 1890, Ballycastle is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ulster and maintains a proud tradition of welcoming visitors. At just £30–£45 per round, it represents outstanding value — particularly when the views from the higher holes are considered. Rathlin Island lies just a few miles offshore; on clear days you can see Scotland across the North Channel. The town of Ballycastle itself is worth exploring, with its excellent seafood restaurants and proximity to the Giant's Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge.

Everything you need to know before you play

Absolutely. Ballycastle is one of the most underrated and rewarding golf experiences on the Causeway Coast. The combination of links and parkland holes, extraordinary coastal views, and green fees of just £30–£45 make it outstanding value. It is a very different experience to Royal Portrush but equally memorable in its own way.
Yes — Rathlin Island is clearly visible from several holes on the higher part of the course. On clear days you can also see the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland across the North Channel. The views from the 7th and 8th holes in particular are among the most spectacular of any golf course in Ireland.
Ballycastle is approximately 15 miles east of Royal Portrush — around 25 minutes by car along the scenic Causeway Coastal Route (A2). The route passes through Bushmills and offers views of the Giant's Causeway. Many golfers combine a round at Ballycastle with one at Portrush or Portstewart on a multi-day trip.
Visitors are warmly welcomed at Ballycastle throughout the week. No advance booking is required for midweek rounds, though weekend rounds benefit from a call ahead. There is no handicap certificate requirement. The club has a clubhouse, bar and catering facilities.
Green fees at Ballycastle Golf Club range from £30 to £45 depending on the season and day of the week. Weekday rates are typically at the lower end, with weekend and peak summer rates at the higher end. These prices represent outstanding value for a course of this quality and scenic merit.
